Subject: Winsock with NFS
Hello.
I just downloaded wsck-nfs from gatekeeper.dec.com (cica mirror).
I'm trying to use Winsock application over a PC-NFS network. The file
wsck-nfs contains no documentation at all. I install it using File|New
from program Manager. When I try to run it an error message appears telling
me that this program can only be executed by a sockets application (?).
How can I run the winsock application over this f***ing PC-NFS network. ?
Any hints?
Thanks in advance, and please reply via email to
ereimber@dcc.uchile.cl
or
ereimber@huelen.reuna.cl

Look for XWINDEMO by Starnet... They have a great IDEA... a small
simple X program that works great... and on top of that it is DIRT CHEAP.
The demo is a full functioning copy -- so what you buy is what you see.

The commercial version supports BinHex, UUencode, and Base64 (MIME)
methods of encoding. It is very inexpensive, and the nicest WinSock
mail client available. Contact pceudora@qualcomm.com for more
information.
I believe that version 2.0.1 is the most recent commercial release,
and that 2.0.2 is right around the corner.

You can read an article in Trumpet News Reader and then set it back to
unread. To do this, select TOGGLE under the Article menu. I don't
know if Newt News allows you to reorder, I never stuck with it long enough
to fiddle (but I think it looks really pretty in v 4.0). I don't think
Trumpet allows it, but I'm not sure what happens if you mess with your
news.ini file.

To add a little more info..... tnstart.exe is a little application that
comes with the WinQVT package and QinQVT has to be already running (as an
icon or not) for tnstart to be able to do it's stuff....

Sure there is, Peter posted about it in one of the trumpet.* lists.
When you have the list of articles up, just starting typing the word you want
to find and Trumpet jumps to the next article w/ the matching text (in the
header).

No, Chameleon is a commercial package. It supports SLIP, compressed SLIP, and

There's a parallel thread in this group full of people who desparately
want a Kermit file transfer capability added to a Telnet client, so
they can file transfer to Telnet-only hosts (or modems on Telnet
terminal servers).
Seems link a good idea to me - the Kermit protocol is well published, but
as soon as you get that going, I imaging people will start wanting
Xmodem, Ymodem, Zmodem, Xtalk, MNP and God-knows-what-else added.
Still, Kermit does seem to be the lowest common denominator, and always
seems to work where every other protocol fails for some reason, and I
think it would be a valuable addition.

Just tnstart.exe with the command parameter being host IP.
For Hgopher the terminal/telnet viewer entry should be tnstart %i

Subject: QVTNet scroll bar problem
I've noticed a problem with vt220 emulation on QVTNet: When a "clear
screen and home cursor" command is received, the current page of text
is not saved to the scrollback buffer.
This is particularly frustrating when I read news, because my
newsreader clears the screen at the start of every article. Can
someone tell me how to fix the problem, or suggest another telnet
client that doesn't have the problem?
